Hate the idea of waking up before the crack of dawn? There is a good reason to do so during the month of May. Four planets; Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and Mars will all cluster together on the eastern horizon. Wake up half an hour before sunrise and look out an east facing window and you will witness this amazing sight.

Each morning these 4 planets will re arrange themselves to form different shapes in the sky. On May 8 you will see Venus, Jupiter and Mars converge in a straight line, while on the 13th Mercury, Venus and Jupiter will form a triangle, while the 20th will see the triangular formation of Mercury, Venus and Mars. This show will end on the 30th with a crescent moon joining the planets to form a spectacular Grand Finale.

Venus will continue to shine in the morning sky after sunrise, but you may need the aid of binoculars to spot the red planet Mars who is not as bright as the other stars.
